Eleven Months and Counting Down

This has been a glorious day in Oxford. I have had one other day like it - last month.

Our little zone was given permission to spend the day together for fun and games. Mondays as you ;may recall are preparation days -the designated day to do laundry, cleaning and shopping - until 5 p.m. - when they dress back up like missionaries and go back to work.

We both would normally be there, and actually we should be there. Wherever our missionaries are assembled, there we are - or should be.

But today's activities came into conflict with our young adult assignment, and I stayed home!

I got up early and put the pork roast in a crock pot and got it percolating. I did some cleaning, and some organizing and cleaning of drawers in kitchen. I'm just doing a little every day.

With purse in hand, I went shopping. I wandered through the town square, alive with tourists and various and sundry Oxford citizens, buskers and beggars, bicyclists and buses. I walked to one of my favorite stores. I was tempted to browse through their clothing, which I like, but kept to the business at hand. Breezing through the women's clothing at the front of the store, I entered the grocery store - about twice as large as a Circle K in the States and wandered through picking up fresh fruit, fresh rolls for the pork and some candy to put out for Family Home Evening.

Given a choice, SK always goes by Bill's place, but Bill has not been there for a few weeks. We are disappointed every time. Who knows where he has gone. SK wishes he could let him know that the fishing is good there by the backyard castle....SK watches them each time he passes.

I passed by on my way to town, but as usual - no Bill, so I didn't return the same way. I went through the backyard castle grounds, which is enjoyable.

I fixed the meal, and worked on some other things as I listened to several podcasts. They were truly inspiring. I realized that I have not been doing those things that strengthen me and help me feel more upbeat about everything in life.

As much as I loved studying for Institute, it was a different experience than I expected and I didn't enjoy it as much as I used to enjoy preparing lessons.

Next Sunday, I will give a Relief Society lesson and then the following Sunday a talk in Sacrament Meeting and today I have enjoyed working on both.

SK left around 9 in the morning and got home at 5. He had spent the day chauffeuring missionaries around and participating in their games. He was tired when he got home, and took a nap. I finished up preparations for the meal. At 7, we had eleven here. Two of them were not members, and they were each delightful.

The dinner was  success and then we played some games. We ended with Skull-King, which everyone absolutely loved!

It was eleven months ago today that we arrived back in England. A lot has happened since then. I can hardly wrap my mind around it all.

I will think about that as I drift off to sleep....people, places and paths through green forests.
