August 10 at The Lion Brewery

First, in answer to Melissa's question: We visited Marge Gunnell shortly before she passed away. I think it was a red hibiscus plant blossoming its little heart out, just outside her window.

These days, every one of them is bittersweet as we find ourselves out and about in this fair city. We accomplished much in the morning. Late in the day as the sun was beginning to sink, and yet with at least two hours of twilight/daylight left, we closed the door on our little flat and just walked.

We kept to the central areas of town, weaving in and out of small groups of pedestrians, tourists from the look of it. We passed about a dozen colleges, the town hall, at least five ancient churches, pubs o'plenty, the open market and the covered market....all so vital to what this city is.

This city is charming, there is no other way to put it.

We strolled hand in hand laughing and talking. No stress as of right now. We will feed our district lunch later this week, and we will join the seniors on Saturday for a day of sight-seeing, but today and tomorrow, we will slowly get ready to leave.

This is what I get when I ask him to pose in front of a scenic view.

Nearly a year ago, the garbage truck came into the complex and ripped off our iconic gate and arch. As of today it is back in all its glory.

SK took a load of things to Salvation Army, another load to the recycling center. He washed the car, filled it with gas and came back to index. I continued my quest to lighten up the gray edges of the champaign-colored carpet, washed baseboards and walls, organized a cupboard, and worked on my talk - as did SK.

It was a peaceful day, and I have loved it.

The day started out in the low 60's, and when I opened all the windows first thing it was chilly but bracing. Oh how I love sitting in the living room, windows open, fresh cool air flowing through, and enjoying the early-morning sounds of the city from outside!

We joined the mission Zoom call at 9, and watched this short video about President Cook, a counselor to our mission president. It's a great video of a sweet man. The bonus is all of the scenes of London.
