The Sabbath - In Lockdown Mode - Again
It is 7 p.m. and uncharacteristically early for me to be writing, but I am tired and I don't think there will be anything of significance happening the rest of the day. There is a gentle drizzle of rain outside the open window, and the hushed sounds that go along with wet surfaces. It is still light out there, but overcast enough to make it feel as if the sun is going down.
Rain is predicted for much of next week with the temperature reaching a high of 70. Seriously, that is plenty warm enough with the humidity being 79% and higher. The lows each day are still in the lower 50's and considering it is July, that is lovely. Taking into consideration that last summer they had a few days of unusually warm weather...getting up into the 90's at one point, the weather sites say that generally the highest temperatures occur in July, getting up to - 71 degrees! TaDa!
We tuned into our ward sacrament meeting and Sunday School - as well as the missionaries half hour meeting for people they are teaching. They show great little thought-provoking videos and have brief discussions. They do a great job with it.
We haven't talked to the elders yet, but the sisters - who serve in the Oxford 2nd Ward told us that Matt arrived 15 minutes early for church today, not in a suit but looking very sharp. He sat through the meeting with the elders asking a ton of questions. When it was over, he spoke for over an hour with a very good man. Brother Pearson has served on the High Council and in the bishopric, has been a bishop, has several teenagers and is generally qualified to answer any questions I am sure. Isn't that what teens do to you?
The elders will begin teaching him on Tuesday, and he will plan on attending our sacrament meeting next Sunday.
In the meantime, I am on day 2 of my self-isolation. Mary asked if it could possibly some kind of spam. I suppose it could, but this is generated from the National Health Services, and if you click on links, you get lost in the world of links like any big government site, and most importantly, SK hasn't gotten any notices because he doesn't have the app downloaded on his phone. (it's too old) I'm pretty sure it is legitimate, but such a great question! One of our young adults, whom we haven't seen in a couple of weeks is also in isolation because his flat mate tested positive.
Whenever we go somewhere that requires checking in, I scan my phone and they let us both in. There are a number of places that will not let you in unless you scan the app on your phone. SK has never needed the app, and subsequently never needed to be quarantined. Its a good thing because "we" can still function outside the flat, like going to the grocery store, post office or wherever, and I find it particularly good because the one of us who is not in quarantine is the one who drives!
Oh well....two days have already slipped by. Even isolation doesn't drag...the days are still streaming by too quickly. Three more to go.
