A Quiet Sort of a Day
The weather outside has been delightful. The open windows have pulled the world into our small flat, and the fresh cool air is beautiful. The skies are incredible. The clouds often hover over our heads, much closer to us than they are in Arizona. They also move more quickly across the expanse overhead. Sometimes I stand at the window and watch as they scuddle by. Today they were black and threatening, dramatic and mercurial, much like a moody teenager.
Sitting in any room in the flat - all of which face North, I loved the brilliant light streaming in one moment, only to be darkened suddenly the next by madly stampeding clouds heading east. Quickly the room cools and takes on a kind of stillness.
Our elders dropped by with a dish I had sent home with them full of baked spaghetti. They came up to the door, and I insisted they come in and sit down for a few minutes. They were obliging and we had a lovely visit until I realized that they are not supposed to be in our flat! I don't know if there is a single person keeping track of a seventy-two-year-old in Oxford, but I have been obedient to the restrictions. (Besides I don't relish a fine of several hundred pounds for disobedience.)
They stayed for awhile anyway, and it was a joy just to have them visit.
There really can't be much danger....I tested negative again this morning, and I will be free tomorrow night at midnight.
I got my lesson prepared and gave it this evening. I have come to love those very special individuals who tune in each week and share their faith and their feelings about what they have been studying. They are widely separated geographically and probably by their walk of life, but they are each wonderful. I have come to love Leniel especially, a 22-year-old from Zimbabwe. I love the way he expressed himself, and I love his beautiful and kindly countenance. He is post-mission, and he is eloquent when he speaks about the Savior. He is probably eloquent when he speaks about anything.
Besides hearing that the Princess (AKA Kate Middleton) is in a ten-day self-isolation for the same reason I am) this is the only update I have on the dreaded COVID:

Listening to you describe the clouds and the views outside your flat, I can hardly imagine you will want to return to Arizona where our blue sky looks the same for about 98% of the year.
