Two Days in a Row!
It was difficult to settle down last night. The events of the day were so marvelous, and the miracles and the tender mercies of the Lord were had in abundance.
Which is why I expected that today would be kind of a down time....you know - time to process yesterday, and to settle down a bit.
And it was a leisurely day. It was nice and easy. I cleaned a little (I am cleaning with more attention to detail these days - I know how fast two months is going to go - it is actually down to one month and 29 days!), because someone new will be coming in to live here in a few weeks. Yes, there is a couple who have been called and will be coming in early September.
I spent awhile reading and grading assignments and then got serious about preparing a lesson/discussion. It was a beautiful one about how the Savior served and serves one by one. In the evening, during the class time, I asked the question, "Have you ever had an experience that confirmed that God and His Son Jesus Christ know you?"
A lady from Croatia, one from Italy and one from Belarus all testified of difficult times in their lives when prayers were answered in the most individual and sweetest of ways. The spirit was very strong and I think everyone there was very attentive. By the end of our time together, I just asked if instead of my summing up the evening together, would someone be willing to bear their testimony of the things we had talked about. A woman ended up with a magnificent testimony and I was very grateful for everything said. - and grateful as well that all the technical stuff worked!
We opened Zoom up a few minutes later to tune into the last Tuesday night mission call with Dave and Deb. It consisted of a very short clip of each companionship saying what they loved and learned about President and Sister Checketts. We filmed ours earlier today. That was fun and sweet. Dave and Deb have to be enormously pleased with everything.
They closed up with remarks expressing love and appreciation and a few words of wisdom about how to move forward with the new mission president. Dave announced something incredibly sweet. England is one of the earliest missions outside of the continental U.S, opening in 1839 when the first missionaries arrived. There are pictures of every mission president since then, including Heber C. Kimball, hanging in the mission office. Dave's legacy will be that starting with him, the picture will be of him and Deb or Mission President and Companion.
At about the time it was ending, I got a note from Matt....the man I gave The Book of Mormon to yesterday in the town square.
