To London To London

Today was a picture day! It was gorgeous. But I never once took my phone out to snap away.

We were up early to get off to London. We picked up the sisters from Oxford and away we went over hill and green dale. We arrived in Hyde Park Chapel and parked with about a half hour to spare before our Zone interviews.

We received training from Dave and Deb, and then while they interviewed the twelve young people from our zone, taking about 45 minutes with each companionship, It was our whole day basically. We left London to come home at 4, wading through heavy traffic. We arrived home around 6, just enough time to get my lesson up and running for Pathway.

I had a truly beautiful Power Point presentation for the lesson this evening. It was to carry the lesson along in flawless fashion. I ran through it a couple of times, and had SK sit in the living room with his computer on at my Zoom address. The Power Point worked great, even the two videos worked great.

When I opened class and had a prayer, I shared screen and opened PowerPoint, no one could see it! It was blurry! The videos wouldn't open at all. So for the second week in a row, I winged it. At the very least next week, I will type up the entire lesson instead of having it embedded in the Power Point. I have sent out two SOS emails for help from the two tech teachers.  I hope I can get it figured out for next week!

Back to our day in London. We met with our little zone (some have up to twelve companionships, ours is small at six - not counting us). It was so lovely to be live with all of them in a large Institute classroom on the second story of the Hyde Park Chapel. They listen attentively and make cogent comments when called upon for an answer. They are young and energetic. Did I ever feel like that?

I know they have challenges that I don't see, but I am still seeing young people who are incredible. After lunch, they all went out onto the very busy road in front of Hyde Park Chapel (Exhibition Road) for "Hiya" time. Forty five minutes of stopping people on the street to talk about the gospel and present them with a Book of Mormon.

We walked outside and just observed. It was a drop-dead gorgeous day. The light beamed off the white surfaces of the buildings, and highlighted every little seed or leaf floating down through the clear air - looking almost like raindrops except for the slow lazy drift. There was a gentle breeze, and people were mostly happy. People seem so relieved and pleased to be outdoors, without masks and among crowds of other people. At the end of the forty-five minutes, Dave rounded them all up and had them get in line at an ice cream truck that is parked nearby, where everyone got an ice cream cone with a Cadbury stick of chocolate hanging precariously from the cone.

Afterward we went back in for a couple hours more training and came home.

It has been a lovely day for which I am grateful. Even the lesson and the comments was a pleasure.

But I am so happy now to be answering the call of sleep.
