June is Bustin Out All Over

Argh....no pictures again today! We have been home all day attending various and sundry Zoom meetings. Our stake conference was broadcast this morning and was absolutely wonderful. A woman spoke who was baptized in 1979. Her conversion story was amazing. She is black, and had some friends tell her that if she saw any young men in suits, white shirts and ties, stay away from them.

She was told that they were preaching that black people can't enter Heaven. A couple of days later two bright-eyed young men in suits wearing tags knocked at her door. She answered and pulled them in by the lapels and said, "I've been waiting for you!" She was ready to make short work of these young upstarts.

I guess you know the outcome. She bore one of the most beautiful testimonies I have ever heard. She knows the scriptures, and she knows the Savior, and she knows that Joseph Smith was a prophet who restored the gospel to the earth. I loved listening to her.

Later, our young missionaries conducted a meeting for our newest members and showed a short ( 5-minute) video without words - just beautiful music. These young missionaries know the Gospel Library! There are dozens and dozens, maybe hundreds of excellent videos that teach a single principle. If you are interested, here is the link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53Pqw20xK10

Still later, we watched the England London Mission "Why I Believe" Devotional. The subject was families. The people who introduced the speakers were five of Dave and Deb's children. It was as good as, if not better than most of the other "Why I Believe" evenings.

Throughout the day, I had been baking. We are driving to London tomorrow, and we will leave when the mission festivities are over, but I don't think we will be able to get to the church much before 8. So I decided to bake today and give the goodies to Kristina this evening.

Between the Why I Believe" Devotional and the 8:00 meeting for senior missionaries (to brief us on our duties tomorrow for the great celebration) I hoofed it to the town square where Kristina had gathered any and all young adults who wanted to write on the gift for Bishop and his wife who are departing soon.

The sun was slowly sinking - although an hour and a half later, it is still sinking. It will be over an hour yet before it is truly dark. Kristina and six others were sitting and standing in that glorious muted sunlight near the small obelisk commemorating Oxford's sister city Bonn Germany. For what it is worth, here is a stock picture from online of the square and without our great young adults.

They were all happily visiting. I love those young individuals. I had to hand over the goodies, and sign the gift for the Bishop and Amy, and then hurry home. I had a moment to visit with each one.

There is much excitement in the air about the celebration. It will be the first time we have all been together. It will be in a football stadium, and we will be socially distanced. But it will be truly glorious. We are all hungry for this. There will be 200 or so missionaries there.

I hope it is cooler tomorrow. It got up to 73 degrees today! We have fans going, and the windows ajar, and lightweight clothing. I hear last year it got up to 97 one day in July.....but that is highly unusual, and let us hope that it doesn't happen again this year! The joke is that we have summer one day in July here in England.

Tomorrow, I will take pictures!
