Preparation Day
Monday is the young missionaries day to do laundry, cleaning, shopping and all other tasks that they can't get to on the other days. I'm sure it makes it difficult for them to do much sightseeing because their schedules are full.
I am happy to report that we do not have to adhere to the same guidelines as the missionaries. Every day for us is a preparation day of sorts. Mondays have nearly always been a day to get ready for Family Home Evening. For months now, getting ready for FHE has mostly been about just tuning in at 7:30 and participating in the activity.
I think we are through with that now, and are definitely returning to post COVID gatherings - with caution. We are told that no more than two households and 6 people can mingle indoors. But the restrictions are relaxed for venues such as theaters and restaurants and other businesses. Churches are able to do a little more. Within a month, I'm pretty certain that we will be free of most restrictions.
Kristina invited all to come to the church for this evening's Family Home Evening. She and Cameron - her fiancee planned a game night. She will return to her home on the Isle of Mann in two weeks, and not be back until time for her wedding - mid July. So we only have those couple of weeks left with her. We love her and her cute husband-to-be, and will miss them..
We planned on eight, and found out late in the day that we would have fourteen or fifteen, including the three pescatarians who attended last week. SK hoofed it to the store for more supplies while I began cooking and chopping.
This is where Madsen's law comes into play again: "Everything takes longer than I think it will."
We made up twenty-four wraps, stuffing ten of them with bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and green onions with a ranch type of dressing poured on top of the inside ingredients. Another six were tuna, chopped veggies and lettuce, and another eight bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado.
The meeting was supposed to start at seven p.m. and we arrived at 7:03. We carted everything in, deposited it all on the tables, said a prayer and watched as everything disappeared. I can only say that the Lord answers prayers. They seemed to love it all. Every wrap was eaten, every package of chips and every cupcake.
It's all worth it. It is so fun to be with them.
I think though, that next week I will make a very large pan of white chicken chili, and a smaller pan of white chili with beans. That will take the stress out of wondering if I have enough of everything...I hope.
