You Too Can Be an Owner at The Lion Brewery!

Yes, indeed.  SK and I were walking today and talking about the Lewis episode we watched where they walked past the brewery.  We were wondering how old the apartments are.  When we got home, SK began researching and found that there are some flats in the complex which are rented out on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.  There is also one on the fourth floor for sale.... for 675,000 pounds!  But if you are interested in looking at the pictures that accompany them, you'll enjoy these:

The apartment is similar in size to ours, but has wooden floors and sleek modern furniture, and this one has old carpeting and furniture that started out second hand.  It is still lovely, and as you can see, is close to everything in Oxford!

We walked less than two miles today and covered familiar territory, yet it always always always delights us.

Dave asked if I would contact Thomas Kofod in Denmark to ask if he will speak to our mission on a Saturday night.  He played the role of Christ in the Church's film The Testaments: Of One Fold and One Shepherd, filmed in 2000.

We heard him speak several times while we served in Denmark.  He is a sweet man, tall, dark, slim and handsome.  The story of how he came to get that role is inspiring. We saw him play the Beast in a live production of Beauty and The Beast while we were in Denmark.  He has a beautiful voice.  In fact, he sang the part of the Beast as a voiceover for Disney's Beauty and the Beast when it was released in Denmark.  Here is a sample:

I have been texting him back and forth today to get it lined up.  It was a miracle that he got my text, because he has a lot of followers and probably doesn't read messages.  I was grateful that he read it and responded.  I am excited to hear what he will share, but we are still waiting for an agreed-upon date.

We are only three weeks away from General Conference.  We are so looking forward to it.  For us, the first session on Saturday will be at 5 p.m. and the second at 9:00 p.m.  which makes it possible for us to watch the sessions live, except for the Saturday night session.

I found a book in the flat today that I have been reading.  It is called Oxford on Foot.  It traces ten walking tours to do on your own while in Oxford.  I think we will systematically go through each one.  I think we have discovered each trail on our own, but didn't know the interesting facts about our surroundings.  This book doesn't go in depth, but it helps.  It was published in 2008 and I think is probably outdated with some of the building and road changes going on in Oxford.  In the meantime, the history part of it hasn't changed.

By the time any of you come to visit, we'll not only know the best walking tours through the city, but some history as well!

These pictures are from our walk today.  We went up to the top of our still-deserted West Gate Mall to look out over the city.

Still pretty deserted until April 12.

I know this is an odd picture.  We were on the roof of West Gate Mall and I was trying to take a picture when the wind caught my scarf!

I am not kidding....this is the view as we come out of the grocery store. (We weren't in it, we just walked by.)

Can you see the lead-glass window panes on the second story?  We see a lot of those, usually shining clean and charming.
