Something to Celebrate
Haircut for SK #2. I mostly trimmed around the bottom of the back and around his ears. Considering I hardly know what I am doing, and considering that last time I left quite a dent in his hair on the side, and considering that his hair kind of has a mind of its own on the sides, it is a wonder that he looks alright. But he does, and I think he'll be fine for another three weeks when he can get in to see Nife - the real barber. I have 27 days until I can get in to see Jeannie - the lady who will save me from this hair.
It is driving me crazy. It feels so long and limp. The thing is - I am not sure how to tell her to cut it. I think what I would love is the Judi Dench look - you know - about as short as SK's, except a little longer in back and on top....just a little.
Our walk took us down one of the busier streets, but you can see that it wasn't exactly overcrowded today. There was a brisk wind and it was a little chilly - a perfect day for a walk. Our walk was at least a half hour, which is good, but not nearly as far as we usually like to go. We will take a longer one tomorrow.

| We are on St. Thomas Street, having just left the Lion Brewery, and see there in the background is our backyard castle, English flag flying. |
We had a morning meeting with our district. Our district leaders - otherwise known as the Oxford Elders, did a great job conducting the meeting and leading the training. I couldn't help but think what a blessing this is for them....for them all really. They serve as cheerleaders for each other, they encourage each other to do better, and they hold each other accountable for commitments made. These times and circumstances aren't easy, but they certainly are fascinating. It will be interesting, someday, to sit in the comfort of our family room and be able to look back a few years to this time.
What will we have figured out?
Angie came for dinner and a movie this evening. I know what you're thinking. This is definitely not allowed according to the COVID regulations. Angie lives alone, and has done so for about 7 months now. She does all her research from home, she works at her computer. She received her first vaccination three weeks ago and it has now been seven for us.
We get out more than she does, and so we decided to celebrate the shots with a very small party - just the three of us. It was pleasant to have her here in this flat. We visited about all kinds of things. She was here about four hours and then she was gone. I think we all needed that visit.
If things continue to improve, we will be able to get together with a group of six - outside - next week. We are looking forward to that. And there is May to look forward to when we may be able to have small groups assemble indoors.
I think everyone is heartily ready for restrictions to be lifted. In the meantime, we will celebrate.
