Saturday is a Zoom Day!

This was the day we gave our training on unity in companionships. I was excited about it.  We found a picture of about 10 young people participating in a three-legged race.  We had some wonderful New Testament scriptures about "running with patience the race before us," and keeping our eyes on the mark.

We knew there would be some good discussion.  When I put the picture of the race on the screen, I looked at all the faces of the missionaries - they were frowning at it.  All of them.  I asked if anyone had ever participated in an event like this.  Once again, frowns and blank stares.

I turned to SK and said, "Is this an American thing?"

I looked back at the faces, searching for Elder Hinckson (the only American in our zone - besides us).  He was on another phone call somewhere else in his apartment.  Everyone else in the zone is British, Finnish, or South African.  None of them had ever taken part in a race like that.  Elder Hinckson showed up at that time and gave a good answer about what it was and how we can relate it to serving a mission with a companion.

We got through the rest of the training, but since it was short anyway, it was hard to get past that opening of the session.  I recall way back when I was new at the museum, a classic rule of leading tours through the art was "Know your audience."  It was one of those priceless moments I will long remember.

That was one of several Zoom meetings today.  We met with the sisters as they taught a man about The First Vision.  I loved that.  He seemed tender-hearted and sincere.  He said he has been praying this past week, even though it feels awkward.  He wants to learn about God.

Our final Zoom meeting was a rebroadcast of Elder and Sister Uchtdorf  speaking to missionaries about missionary work.  It was excellent.

I made a couple batches of cookies, which we delivered.  It is so fun to do that.  One of the young women we delivered to was celebrating her birthday.

If you can possibly watch the "Why I Believe - Divine Roots" at 6 p.m. on Sunday, it will be well worth your time.  https://www.facebook.com/events/866583870741309/

You will see our young missionaries.  They put together the promo, they did the music and they are the ones telling stories of their "roots" or ancestors.  It will be well worth the watch.  If you are not on Facebook, check this link on Youtube:

Have a beautiful Sabbath!

That is exactly during our church!! Argh. Also, sad about the 3-legged race. Who knew it was an American thing?!?

I’m sure that was disappointing to have a lesson point fall so flat. But perhaps it could be a fun activity once things finally open up there. What a funny thing to consider that game is wholly American. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Erin and Melissa...if it is only an American thing, I think we ought to begin by sharing! Yes, I think that would be a tremendous activity for missionaries!
