No Bubbly Yet!
The nicest thing that happened today was being able to visit with two of our young people. We received two Liahona magazines in the mail this week. It is a beautiful magazine, with a large middle section just for UK, with pictures and articles about the Saints in these fair isles. There is a section for young adults and one for youth. It is great.
So we took a little treat plus a magazine to each of them, and stood outside with our masks on for ten to fifteen minutes (actually SK stayed in the car - thereby obeying the rules of no more than two together outside). We stayed close to the car so he could be a part of the conversation. It was wonderful to touch bases with them. They are both doing well, but this is so very difficult for so many people. It is easy to get down, and so easy to feel disconnected.
We had a devotional on Zoom which was excellent - from London. We were introduced to the 12 new missionaries who are currently in isolation, and heard a couple of them give talks. Dave and Deb each spoke, and we had some beautiful pre-recorded musical numbers.
We took our usual walk, but this time chose to go downtown and go through the old Covered Market. We were dismayed to see that there were almost no shops open. The cookie store was open, selling warm cookies just out of the oven (we resisted!) but that is the only one that was. How sad! We risked going in to a grocery store to get a special bottle of pear/apple bubbly juice to celebrate the visa situation.
In the evening we joined our zone for Friday night game night: Two Truths and a Lie
That was very enjoyable. I stumped them all. I said that #1 I had hiked the Grand Canyon from rim to rim, #2 I had hiked Denmark's tallest mountain, and that #3 I had rescued a boa constrictor from near death.
When I was a Young Women's President, one of the Laurels had a pet snake that got stuck in a couch. I went over to her home, where we took off the bottom of the couch and found it coiled up inside. We pulled it out and rescued it!!
When we served in Denmark we "climbed" the highest mountain (all of 482 feet tall), and were at the top before we realized we had travel up....we were just ambling through a lovely area, and saw the sign.
I have never hiked the Grand Canyon. Ha!
The bad news is that we did not hear from the visa department today, and probably won't before Monday. But the bubbly is nevertheless sitting in the refrigerator getting ice cold.
I just hope it won't be in there longer than a couple of days.

I hope you don’t have to wait too much longer either!
