A New and Better Career for SK

Our grand trip of the day was to drive 5 miles to get gas and then get the car washed.  I asked SK if he ever looks around here and thinks, "I LOVE this place!"

He thought about it for about 5 seconds and said, "No."

Incredulously, I asked if he ever felt that way about any other place, to which he replied that no he doesn't.  He just enjoys where he is.  That is admirable....but nearly impossible for someone like me.

We attended a "Come Follow Me" lesson with the young elders and several newer members.  As always, I was wondering how 18, 19 and 20-year olds know how to teach like that.  It was a good lesson.

Later I attended a Relief Society discussion group which was very interesting.  The host can choose whatever book, movie or podcast she would like.  Tonight it was a podcast about grace  Besides the podcast, it referred to several talks and articles, a few of which I listened/read, which was a great preparation for the get-together.  I thought it was a good discussion, although it doesn't seem like we talked about the podcast very much.  I like the way Erin's book club is run....right on target.  Here are the links:

After that we had game night with our zone - 10 elders and sisters.  We have some great games on Thursday evenings where we do a lot of laughing.  SK and I sat here at the desk.  When they announced that we would be doing charades, SK muttered "What is that?"  His worst fears were confirmed when I told him we would act out a word or phrase.

Three were called out on conference calls, so the rest of us carried on.

His next statement was, "I can't do that!" speaking quietly.  Five of the young missionaries acted out the name of a prophet, then I\it was my turn.  I got Captain Moroni, so it was easy.  I took off my jacket and pretended to rip it.  My team got it right off and then congratulated me as though I had just made a 3-pointer in basketball to win the game!

SK drew Noah, and did an Academy Award job of acting it out.  They got it immediately.  But it was on the next round of movie titles that he really shined.  He was supposed to act out "Beauty and the Beast."  First he pretended like he was combing long tresses and trying to look beautiful - batting his eyelashes  Then he stuck out his hands like paws, flexing and growling.  Everyone loved it.  They laughed and laughed.  He ripped his shirt on that one (accidentally - while flexing)!

Sometime in the evening, the sisters brought us a treat.  What a treat!  I think I would balloon up in no time if I ate scones, clotted cream (thick, rich and naturally sweet cream the consistency of soft butter) and jam often.  It was yummy.  The young British woman who made them pronounced them "scawns."

RootsTech started today and I was only able to watch a couple of things, because I was listening to the podcast in preparation for the evening discussion.

I'm hoping to listen to a few more tomorrow.

I wish I could have seen your charades!

What is clotted cream?
Lia, clotted cream is a divine creation that starts with sweet cream that according to Erin is low and slow baked for a very long time. Our missionary said either spread it on the scone and top with jam (like butter) or spread jam on the scone and top with a dollop of clotted cream (like whipped cream). It is quite delicious!

I think I would have paid money to see Dad rip his shirt while flexing while playing charades on a zoom night missionary meeting. Oh my gosh!! And scones and clotted cream?! Yum!
