Time to Change

It is 7:10 p.m. and I am writing my blog!  It has been a lovely day.  And it's about to get lovelier.  we have the adult session of stake conference which will begin in 20 minutes.  It will last for one and half hours, at which time we will join the mission Saturday night evening call.  We are looking forward to both, because in our experience - both are always outstanding.

When the Saturday night call is over, I will get ready for bed and crawl in!  I have been staying up til past 1 a.m. for weeks now, and I know I have got to change in order to feel better physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  The young missionaries go to bed at 10 and are up at 6:29.  I am going to plan on being in bed every night at 10:30 to 11 and be up by 7 or 7:30.  I will have time to study and do a little stretching video that Lia got me started on a couple of years ago.  I know I feel better when I do that.

I will write in the blog in the early morning hours to recap the day before.  So by telling you all this, I am making a commitment that I want to keep.  A dear friend - a zany friend from Denmark who is about 10 years younger than I posted a picture of herself at age 20 in a bikini.  She was stunning.  Her post declared that she was going to get down to that weight once again and that she would chart her progress on Facebook for one and all to see.

Alas, it didn't last long.  She is a great entertainer.  We went to her home a few times when we were serving in Denmark, and I've never seen anyone set a table with such flair and elegance.  The food she and her husband fix is so delicious you run out of superlatives within minutes of writing.  They have not been reticent to travel the world, in spite of COVID, and they love to sample local cuisine.  Failure in her grand declaration of intent seemed inevitable.

I actually would have been sad if she had gone on some boring diet and spent the next year of her life eating fruit and vegetables.  And I think she is beautiful just as she is.

That probably doesn't seem to relate to my situation.  I find that it is not wise to share with the world your intent to change, because - well you know why.

But I am sharing this with you and hope that when we leave to go home (still hoping and praying that will be September or October), I will have established some very healthy habits.

Good Night.
