As Long As We Are Under Seige.....
Our walk took us past our back-yard castle today. I always - always - always think I ought to take a picture of it. It is a lovely old place, haunted they say. It changed hands several times over the centuries, and its history is embedded outside of the entrance/gift shop. At SK's suggestion, I snapped a picture of his favorite one. It almost always puts me in mind of his favorite Gary Larsen cartoon of all time. Somehow it is even funnier here, except for the fact that WE are the Saxons! But I am certain that despite all his British ancestry, SK identifies with the ones doing the mooning.

| Considering everything in our country is comparatively new, this plaque does give one pause. Over a millennia ago, this was a spot on the map!...a town. |

| Just in case you can't make it out, the caption says: "So then I says to Borg, "You know as long as we're under siege, one of us ought to moon these Saxon dogs." |
This must be thoroughly disheartening to people here in the UK. As if the COVID and BREXIT aren't bad enough all by themselves, now we have major flooding and cities being covered in snow. And of course it was pointed out that the facility in Wales where the COVID vaccinations are being manufactured is under threat of being shut down due to the rising waters.
I spent a little time with Angie, who was baptized last June, right in the middle of the COVID seige. I think she is amazing. Her testimony is mature and her understanding of the gospel is amazing. Her faith is amazing. She is a researcher at Oxford Brooks University. She has a PhD and has taught in universities, but prefers research.
She taught Relief Society a week and a half ago, and I missed it, sadly for me. I called and asked if she would be able to give it to me - she said yes!
She had put together a beautiful PowerPoint presentation and also put together scriptures and quotes and questions. I was deeply touched by her lesson about change, what it is, why it is and what do we do with it. I love these experiences.
The news says today that it will be spring before we can even begin to hope the seige will end. If that is the case, I will seek out people like Angie who inspire and soothe with positive messages, and who take the long view, which always gives hope.
