Zoom!

It is now about 9:00 p.m., and except for a brief break for dinner, we have been in meetings all day!  It is surprising to me how occupied we have become with these things.  They of course are all Zoom meetings.  We watched the Primary program at 9:45, Sunday School at 11:30, our young missionary meeting with new members and investigators at 1:00, a planning meeting with our Young Adult reps at 2:00 and at 4 - a meeting with the other two YSA senior couples in our mission.  We ate dinner, and then watched the England London Mission "why I Believe" fireside at 6, which with a couple of interruptions ended at 8:30.

Fortunately, I was able to pause it, and to pick up where we ended when we were ready.  Our new little family came over to return toys and DVDs and some wonderful gingerbread cookies.  We visited outside for a little while.  They are such a cute family.

It was actually a blessing to have morning to evening meetings because today was Fast Day, and I was hungry, but didn't have much time to think about eating.

It has been a sweet day.  I was especially impressed with Sunday School.  It is taught by a professor of philosophy at Oxford, who is a kind and humble man.  He took our lesson today and just kind of opened my mind.  He taught a little, asked for comments, responded and then moved on.  I have never in my entire life seen a teacher listen so intently and so well to understand the speaker.

He started out with a picture of Aristotle, and taught us briefly about what the Greeks gave us in the way of language.  He shared one particular word, and gave us the meaning.  What I especially loved here was that he applied it to a Book of Mormon scripture that had always been a puzzle to him.  It is a verse that echoes a New Testament verse.  He has always thought the Book of Mormon verse was just the poor man's version.

As he studied this week, he realized why The Book of Mormon verse is the way it is....relating to the Greek version in the New Testament.  It was a rich explanation, that took us to several other verses in The Book of Mormon.  His bottom line was that a rough frontier uneducated farm boy could not possibly have figured it out, let alone write a book with so much meaning and so many sophisticated evidences that weren't event known when Joseph Smith translated it.

I need to go back to my notes and type them all up so that I will remember.  That class to me was better than a chocolate chip cookie!

We got up at 2 a.m. last night to listen to the Millennial Choir and Orchestra Christmas Concert.  We loved it so much that we are going to watch it again tonight.  If I can possibly stay awake.  Tonight it is at 11, so it seems pointless to try to go to bed now.

No pictures tonight, but tomorrow night I should have plenty to share.
