Have I Mentioned?

My back kind of went out - again!  So we have been indoors nearly all day.  I have hobbled around and SK has been doing indexing.  He has a large goal to finish by the end of the year, and I am certain that he will make it.

He does reviews, meaning he looks over the indexing that other people have done.  Indexing is typing into the computer what you see handwritten into old records that have been faithfully photographed record by record.  We knew several senior couples in the Copenhagen Denmark Mission who were tasked with nothing more than doing that for 8 to 10 hours daily, five days a week.

When one couple left their mission to return home, the mayor of Copenhagen provided a wonderful party for them to thank them for their stellar work.  It is truly valuable for anyone researching ancestors.  Once they are typed or indexed into a computer program, then a reviewer (SK) looks over their work to make sure it is correct, and then it goes into FamilySearch in digital format and is wildly easier to read and research.

SK is so very diligent.  He checks and cross checks and corrects.  He catches a lot of mistakes and is one of the many unsung heroes who is making it easier to do Family History.

We have communicated with several of our young adults today.  Everything in the church has been cancelled going forward into the coming week.  Things will be relaxed, but not enough for us to have more than two young adults with us next week.  We had hoped to have different groups each day for five days, but government regulations are saying no more than two other households (in our case 2 young adults) and once you have been with them, you cannot introduce anyone else into your social "bubble."

The government is worrying about a new strain of the virus which spreads much more rapidly, multiplying itself greatly every seven days.  The news is full of dire predictions.  But the good news is that they think the vaccination will also cover that virus.

I spent some time today with our "tech elders."  Two young men have that calling for six months and in this mission - it is big.  They put together all kinds of zoom meetings, recordings, and post some amazing videos by young missionaries all over the England London Mission.

This is a Facebook video, so I hope you can open it.  If you can't, ask someone who has Facebook, to open it in their window.  It is many of the young missionaries we work with, and we adore them.  They are doing fantastic things, teaching so many, and now are baptizing them.

If you can't open it, the next best thing is to look at pictures of some of them.  How can you not love these bright and happy young people?

The tech elders spent time teaching me how to do a Power Point presentation on Zoom!  I think I can do it.  Tomorrow evening at 6, our mission will have their Christmas Devotional.  Dave asked me to give the art talk about Christ in Art again.  He said that so many young missionaries remember it from last year and have asked if we could do it again.  I know that when I have given it in Church, the spirit has been there, and it makes it a very nice experience.  I want so much to do something that will ba meaningful for these great young people.

I don't know how it will go over online, but I go into it praying and fasting for the spirit to be with us all.

Have I mentioned how much we love these young people?
