Twinkle Toes
I made another batch of carrot cakes. This will be the last for awhile. The last deliveries for awhile. By the time I had finished them and topped them with that sweet cream-cheese icing, it was dark. (Remember that it is dark here by 4, and nearly dark at 3:00) We drove to the three we delivered, and mostly did well at finding our way around. U-turns really are discouraged and we don't want to get another ticket, so when we overshoot a destination, we invariably end up going around blocks that aren't made to go around.
But it all turned out well and we had some nice visits. One of our sweet young women (who is the newest member) is a researcher at Oxford Brooks. She has a PhD. She has deep abiding faith in the Lord and accepts life as it comes. She is from Dominican Republic. She was going to be a speaker at the "Why I Believe" fireside this coming Sunday evening at 6, but she is on quarantine in her home (yes, I know...everyone is.) for at least a couple of weeks and can't come out to film because she has shingles and is very contagious right now.
I visited with her for awhile. SK and I both had our shingles vaccinations some time ago, and they last a lifetime...mostly. It is a wonderful thing that Angie can work from home, but she is a little loopy from the pain medication and so will hopefully rest for a couple of days. She is a sister to Leticia, who converted a year ago, and has been one of our stalwarts. Her visa expired and she was unable to stay, so she is back home in DR. She is a physician.
We had a nice visit with Esmerelda, who looks like a porcelain doll. She and her mother are from Spain and converted a couple of years ago in London. She also is very faithful. She will be going home to London in the next week or so....as are a good number of our YSA. As the term ends, many will spend time with their families for the 6 weeks or so that uni is out. We will have very few who stay, and if things really will be locked down, then they might as well be in their home countries because we can not do much more than text, call or write....or deliver cakes and cookies and grab a few moments of catchup.
The grand highlight of the day was Family Home Evening. Two of the young women planned it, and it was unlike any FHE we have participated in. It was an exercise activity!
The young women had several short videos that everyone tried to keep up with. I started, but collapsed on the floor laughing. SK, as usual really got into it. This guy is 77!!! He just ignored my laughter and continued doing his own brand of workout. Gotta love him.
Be sure to watch the 10-second video at the end....and put the sound up.
