What on Earth About This Day Made Me Tired?

I have been writing - a lot - about how much time we spend meeting with other people online.  Today may be the record of our online meeting time.  We began the day at 10 tuning into the zone conference with our mission leadership.  It went until 5 p,m.  Normally in the past, we would have met in a church with several zones, pausing for 45 minutes to an hour for lunch.

Today our lunch break was about 40 minutes and continued training in the afternoon.  It is a long long day for everyone, and I understand why Dave and Deb are so tired at the end of the day, much less the end of the week.  They each had about 45 minutes this morning for training.  Their training periods were amazing.  I think the missionaries all left inspired and enthused.

One of the many effective things they did was conduct an online survey.  The APs put two questions on the screen:  What did you learn today?  and  What will you do this week as a result of what you learned?

Each missionary there (having done this before but in real life at other zone conferences) answered verbally, and the APs typed in what they said.  The answers were in-depth and demonstrated not only that they were listening carefully but that they had a plan already in mind to implement change.

Dave talked about what an honor and blessing it is to serve in this mission....one of the most diverse int he world.  Not only are our missionaries from all over the world, but we are baptizing members from everywhere you can imagine.  He quoted President Nelson:

"Listen carefully to what I am about to say.  The Lord does not love one race over another.  His doctrine is clear.  He invites all to come unto Him.  Abandon actions and attitudes of prejudice."

Deb gave her message based on talks by Fiona Givens and Sheri Dew. Both talks were marvelous, but the way Deb put them together with her own thoughts on the matter were wonderful.  Her entire talk stemmed from the idea that mortality is "educative."  It is all about experiencing all of the human experience in order to learn and become more like God.  Deb said from time to time she has wondered what she has done so very wrong to be suffering.  For instance, she has had health problems for nearly the entire time they have been serving.  She has seen doctors who are able to help but she hasn't been able to recieve a cure.  She has come to realize that the Lord never inflicts suffering on us, but He is always there to help us endure.

After a nice dinner break, we tuned into Institute.  I left that early to come into the office to tune into Ward Council, which lasted for about an hour and a half.  We all had a small window on the larger screen (13 of us) and chimed in whenever we wanted to say anything.  So it was almost like a round table discussion.  We each could see everyone else, and hear them, and we were all able to share opinions if and when we chose to.  And no one knew that I was in slippers, comfy pants and no bra.  It is incredibly easy to conduct business this way.

Well.....after sitting all day, I'm off to bed.  I'm tired!  I hope that we can get out tomorrow and take a serious walk, so that we can be legitimately tired.

You are so busy! I think busyness creates tiredness even if you aren't out and about.having to be at a certain place (even online) at a certain time all day makes me tired too.

I agree with Lia! There’s something about a full schedule that is draining.
