As You Wish
There has been a steady drizzle of rain throughout the day and now as I write, I am listening to the gentle pitter-patter of the rain on the windows. Why is that so very beautiful to my ears?
Tonight was all about comfort. From the meal of chicken pot pie and rolls dripping with butter and jam, to the death by chocolate cake topped with whipped cream, and ending with the first half of "The Sound of Music," this was going to be a great evening!

And all went well, until time to cast the movie to the television. I have always had a theory that there are technical gremlins who exist solely to mess up any plans you may have to do a powerpoint, cast a short clip of something or watch a full movie.
Whenever we try to cast something onto the television in the daytime, SK and I can enjoy it immediately. But once we have a few people here expectantly waiting to see an old movie with us, boom....no luck. It happened again tonight. I purchased the movie on Amazon, so I have it on the computer, the ipad and my phone.....but could I get it on the TV screen? No. Soooo frustrating!
Particularly so, because I love the young women who were here. Two have never seen "The Sound of Music," and I have talked it up - a lot. But hey, it is the quintessential feel-good musical. I knew they would love it. One of the two hasn't been to church in years, and just moved to Oxford for school, and wants to get active again. How can you miss with that movie?
Well, it all turned out. She liked dinner, and both other young women live in the same area of town, and go to the same college. Oxford Brooks is not affiliated with Oxford University but is a very good college. So the three had a great time getting to know each other.
Some senior missionary couple at some point in time in the last ten years purchased "Princess Bride," and abandoned it here. There are about 20 movies here that have been kindly purchased and abandoned. There are a few that I shake my head about and wonder why, but I am sure there are movies SK and I own that others would think were odd too.
So we watched "Princess Bride" which the same two young women hadn't seen. We watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it. We laughed, we ate more chocolate cake, and then we parted.
Careful. People in masks cannot be trusted. Fezzik

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. Inigo Montoya

I can't believe how many quotable lines there are from that movie! And I can't think of "Princess Bride" without thinking of my daughters when young quoting the entire wedding scene from memory....bad accent and all!
So fun, and I think a good time was had by all. We agreed to meet here again next Saturday for the first half of "The Sound of Music," providing SK and I can figure out how to show it.
We had a wonderful zoom conference with Dave, Deb and the missionaries and now it is time for bed. This day has rushed by! Inconceivable.
