What Will All This Look Like in 2021?
Ha! What do you think of my new purse? SK got a wonderful bag for his racquetball things last spring at the covered market. We both loved the fact that it was made of water buffalo (I need an emoji of a laughing face) and that it was engraved with "Oxford." I looked at purses, and SK encouraged me to get one, but it seemed like a foolish purchase.
This evening, we took our walk of 3 miles. We just walked....nowhere special in mind. But you can strike out in any direction from here and be delighted with what you see. Tonight was no exception. As we walked down one street lined with shops (very few open - perhaps because of COVID, and perhaps because it was after 7 p.m.) we saw the same shop from last year in a different location. The window was plastered with "Last Day of Business" signs. We went in and asked if it truly was closing.
The two young men there confirmed that the location was too costly and the owners would reduce to just the one location where we were last year in the covered market. We looked around at purses, and SK shamelessly encouraged me once again to get a purse. Of course the young men there did more than a little encouraging.
I am not really a purse person. I carry one because it is kind of a necessity. I have actually used the same purse since before we left on our mission to Denmark. I got it from a travel company and paid more than usual for it because it is amazing to use when traveling. It has an rfd pocket, a lock on the zipper that makes it impossible to open if you are trying to pickpocket, and a handle that can't be snipped off. And I might add that it wears like iron. It has been my main purse for nearly 8 years and look at it!
I will continue to use my little utility purse for the most part, and use my Oxford red one on special occasions. I think it is terribly fun.
It was another beautiful day in Oxford. We spent the morning on the visa app, and wonder of wonders...both visa extension applications are complete and in!!!!! Now we wait. And it could be a few weeks, or a few months. We'll see.
If you go to the neighborhood grocery store and see us there, don't mention England....you'll know we were booted out, and it will be a sad subject for us.
We are working with our YSAs, our Bishop and his wife and the stake leaders - trying to figure out how to provide a social experience for them without breaking the stricter rules given by the PM yesterday. No more than six individuals indoors or out. Wear masks, and maintain social distance. I don't know how this is all going to play out.....and I can't help but wonder if this is the way it will be until we are released, whenever that is.
It will be interesting to look back and read this blog in October 2021.
Look at a few sights we see on a normal everyday hour walk around the neighborhood.

| The sky was completely overcast, then with clouds skittering rapidly across our view, then with a brilliant rainbow, and then nearly cloudless.....in a matter of hours. |
