Home Again, Home Again
I am writing this evening in a bit of a fog. We slept (for want of a better word) at Dave and Deb's apartment. It was well past midnight when I crawled into bed, and we were awakened by the alarm at 4:45 a.m. We got ready in the dark, walked over to the underground parking in the rain, and traveled through the semi-deserted streets of London to the airport. Hasty goodbyes were said outside the airport to dear Dave and Deb in a steady downpour. I pray that they will be well through the coming months. and still be able to do what needs to be done in the England London Mission.
It was an incredible experience, the last six months.
It took a long time to get through the security lines at Heathrow, We didn't have a great deal of extra time before boarding the airplane. Oddly enough, everyone who sat by a window on that flight kept their windowshades down, so that the airplane cabin was darkened nearly the entire time we were in the air.
The flight was over 9 hours and seemed like the longest flight of my life. I don't know if it was because I was tired or that it was the anxiety I was feeling about the future, but the minutes just dragged by. I watched the movie "Mr. Rogers," and had SK watch it. It was a sweet movie.
I played a game or two on the screen, and I slept in short catnaps on and off all through the day....I just simply dropped off to sleep and would suddenly jerk awake. The plane was full, and therefore cramped. We flew Delta. About half of the couples flying home got together for a picture in the Salt Lake City Airport.
Through it all I felt as one "unclean."'' That is unfounded really. The entire plane of people were coming from England's busiest airport, and who knows where else. We have been in contact with a lot of people, but mostly familiar and close acquaintances.
We are in Derek's home now. But he and Heather and family will be here tomorrow evening.
We found a taxi big enough to get all we have in.
We came to Derek's home and found the cutest banner! We thought it was for Madsens, but it was for us! Our cute granddaughters made it.
In the most gracious of tender mercies from our Father in Heaven and with much prayer and worry from Melissa and Erin - they have found a little place for us to stay in...no contract and no penalty for staying too long. We can stay for 2 days or 14 or 24. Isn't that astonishing? I'll write about it again tomorrow. For now, let me just say that SK and I have been praying great prayers of gratitude for the Lord's help and our family's love and kindest of help.
As if they hadn't already done so very much, they left an Oregano's Pablo Picasso Salad (my favorite) and a Big Rig (SK's favorite) and two divine pieces of pie int he refrigerator (for PI Day).
Things look so much brighter now than they did 24 hours ago.
