Great.....Britain!

Yes....a good night's sleep makes such a difference, and the light of a brand new day brings fresh perspective.  We had a lovely day today and I am grateful everything went well.  We traveled to nearby (48 minute) Reading where there is a Costco, an IKEA and a B&Q.

B&Q you say?  Yes.  It is the British equivalent of Home Depot.  It was huge.  And it had everything we were looking for and more.  I actually think that it is larger than Home Depot stores in Arizona.  We went first to the curtain department, where after much consideration and discussion (plus a phone call to the two young elders who need them), we purchased some curtains that should look lovely in their flat.

They live on the 11th floor and they have two large picture windows.  On a beautiful sunny day like today these semi-sheer curtains will bring warmth and light into the interior.  I think that is important for these young missionaries.  People won't be able to see in, and they are nice-looking.

We visited Costco as well, getting supplies for dinner Monday and refreshments Wednesday.  We spent too much!  But that was for us.  We always have two purchase orders...one for us personally and one for the YSAs.  SK LOVES chocolate covered raisins, pistachios and white chocolate, and he found everything there today.  I couldn't resist the chocolate-covered almonds.  But we also got some serious stuff to build meals around.

We stopped at a local restaurant and had lunch....it tasted so good.  It was fun.

The trip back was one of those very long ones that happen often to us here.  There must have been an accident on the freeway because we were rerouted to one of the many little two-way highways which wind through hill and dale and small towns.  It would have been lovely in the daytime, but when it is dark, it is mostly just hair-raising with cars going sixty miles an hour in both directions.

I slept, but SK soldiered on....he is better and better at driving here, and negotiating his way through roundabouts.

It was after 7 (probably a good hour and a half to two hour ride) when we arrived home, time enough for a light meal, then an episode of "Inspector Morse," a television series from the 1980's which was filmed in Oxford.  We LOVE watching it and identifying different places in Oxford.  In fact, there is actually a tour you can take called the "Inspector Morse Tour" which takes you all around town to his favorite haunts.  We watch one a week, sometimes two if we have time.  It's a fun thing to do at night.

There is also a "C.S. Lewis Tour," a "J.R.R. Tolkein Tour" and who knows what else.  That sounds like some good reading ahead.  How can you not read some of their work when you live in Oxford?
