A Normal Saturday

It has been a gorgeous day.  Full sun, clear blue sky, and balmy temperatures in the low 50's.  I know you probably think I'm crazy, but that is my ideal day.  Cold enough to wear a jacket, clear enough to not need an umbrella, windy enough to feel it rifling through your hair, and pleasant enough to want to be outside.

We went outside during the afternoon and got a few things accomplished.  The sisters' flat was nearly down to 0 on electricity.  We walked to a couple of different stores (It is like a Circle K but much much smaller - on the order of a walk-in closet with a handful of candies and soda pop for sale), and finally found one who could help us.  -  and the good news is that it is even closer than the other ones we've been purchasing electricity from.

I got some good studying done, which I am grateful for.  I am waiting for the food delivery to come, which I am kind of excited about.  We live on the third floor and there is an elevator, but we seldom take it.  Lugging heavy items like a gallon of milk can be wearying.  So someone else will do all the hard lifting!

We got the flat cleaned up for the break-the-fast dinner tomorrow.  We have no idea how many could be there....as usual.  We may have 8 or we may have 20.  That always gives a little thrill....such an unknown.

We are also waiting for a group of YSAs to come over.  They asked if they could come and watch a movie.  That is like asking Brer Rabbit if he wants to go to the briar patch.  SK and I love old movies and this group does too.  I don't know what we'll watch, but they have talked about "Arsenic and Old Lace" or "The Shop Around the Corner" both of which are wonderful movies.  Nothing in them to apologize for, nothing to offend, nothing to ignore.

Isn't that an amazing thing in today's world?  A movie that entertains, that is wholesome and humorous and inspiring?

We'll have to excuse ourselves a couple of times.  We will join the mission in a mission-wide telephone call to open our fast for tomorrow.  We begin reading "Jesus the Christ" as a mission.  It should be an amazing experience.  I'm excited about it, and excited to see how many of the young ones will keep up.  It is going to take self-discipline to read 4 to 6 pages a day, but it will pay off in a big way for anyone who will give it their best effort.

What a delightful day! I’m excited to see what you opted to watch. And your idea of a perfect day sounds just like my perfect day!

It does sound like a wonderful day! What great movies too! How does the entire mission join in on a call? Judging from the one call we've had with Lauren when all 6 of us were on the call--it's a bit difficult to hear everyone.
We have a phone number that we all call, then a pin number. The mission office can tell who is on the line, and everyone is muted so that we can only hear the mission office. It is really clear and easy to hear, and a wonderful way to keep connected. We have a mission conference call every Saturday night at 9.
