Little Women, a Young Woman and Ableskivers

It was a much more leisurely day today.  We did a little shopping, we did a little cleaning, we did a little laundry, we did a little cooking.

We went to a matinee showing of "Little Women" with one of our YSAs.  She is here working on her masters degree and thought she was the only person in town to have not seen that show yet.  She invited us, and away we went.

That has to be one of the best movies I have seen in a long time.  The settings, the characters, the actors, the cinematography, the screenplay were all excellent.  The music!  I loved it all.  And isn't it amazing that that caliber of movie can be put together without violence, gore, profanity or overt sexuality.  It was a sweet movie.  We also saw some previews that look pretty good.  Someone actually has the nerve to make another remake of "Emma" and I want to see it.

After the movie, she came home with us and we had quesadillas, and then she and I made ableskiver together.  She had made them as a child, and has loved them forever.  I made them in preparation for our mission to Denmark.  So we decided to see if we could still remember how to make them.  They were basically a failure, but we want to make them for Family Home evening, and we agreed that the recipe is off.  We'll get a better one and plan on them turning out better for Monday night.

She stayed until midnight.  We all chatted away, and we were so pleased to get to know her a little better.  She is a great young woman, with many possible directions to her future, both exciting and a little scary.  We just hope she will be here for another 14 months.
