Errata
We were both awakened out of a deep sleep this morning around 7. We are nearly always night owls, climbing into bed between 12 and 1. I'm afraid this habit started in Copenhagen, when we would hang out with the YSAs until all hours.
It seemed like we had just gotten to sleep! But the voice on the other end was our bright new young elder here in Oxford. As of yesterday, Elder Hill is in Reading, and is one of our zone leaders. (There are about 20 of us in the Reading Zone. We will miss him. He is a fantastic missionary and has been a very good district leader. I am happy that he is in our zone, because we'll still get to see him occasionally.
He was replaced by a young elder from Rexburg Idaho - Elder Hathaway, a tall young blond who adores basketball. He came into the mission field a couple of weeks before we did, and at the same time as Elder Tshendabo. So we are all about the same "age" in the mission field.
The sister missionaries had to go into London today, and took a very early train. Apparently they had to pick up something at the elders' apartment. Following rules, they called and asked for the item they needed and then waited outside for both elders to come down to deliver it to them outside the building.
The elders had just gotten back from working out at the gym, and had been in their apartment only minutes. When the sisters called, the grabbed the object and ran down the stairs to deliver it. If they had been living in our apartment, they would have had to leave their apartment unlocked or physically lock it with their key.
But the flat they live in locks automatically as soon as the door is shut. They didn't realize that until they trooped up to their flat and tried the door. They had left their key inside! There is another set that is supposed to be in our flat, but the sisters have it from before we came. There was no senior couple here for three months and during that time, it was a safeguard for each set to have the extra set of keys to the other missionary apartment.
The sisters were on the train by then, so they called here hoping that we had the extra set. Elder Hathaway was in shorts and Elder Tshendabo didn't have a coat on. I had them come over and I fixed them some waffles and eggs. They were grateful to be inside and warm and grateful for the breakfast. They waited here until past nine, when the management company for their apartment building answered the phone. SK drove them across town to check out a key to their place, came home and got ready for the rest of their day. SK later returned the key.
Funny how those little things can happen.
We had a group of three YSAs here in the evening for Institute. Our regular teachers were unable to come. So I found a recent Face to Face talk by Elder Bednar to watch. But they had all seen it, and although would have watched it again if pressed, were happy to kick back and relax and play a board game....which is what we all did. It was a fun game. And the banter back and forth is fun.
Not a real spiritual Institute night, but kind of nice nevertheless.

If wish I lived in Oxford. I would lock my keys in my flat on purpose, just so I could come over and have you fix me eggs. ❤️
