Big Day in London
We got there with a little time to spare before we met in Dave and Deb's apartment. All of the senior couples were there from the England London Mission. There were at least 30 to 40 people in their apartment, visiting and laughing and exchanging recipes. It is so lovely to spend time with them. I forget how nice it is to be with people in my age group. They are a nice group of people.
Deb had the flat looking festive and so beautiful. Her tree was trimmed with very large silver and white balls and it was elegant. She also had a huge wreath on her front door, and bright bouquets of fresh flowers throughout. At 2, Dave called us all to attention, and proceeded to tell a couple of stories in a row. He is pretty funny, and his jokes are almost always puns. I could tell from the response of a few people around me that some thought it was a serious story.
We prayed together and then had a wonderful lunch. After we finished eating, we walked the block and a half to Prince Albert Hall to the Christmas Special. As we walked over, I was visiting with someone else. We walked in, handed over our tickets and walked down some stairs and up some stairs and then when we entered the hall, I was awestruck. It was cavernous, and decorated for Christmas. The orchestra upfront seemed dwarfed by its size. We sat 9th row from the orchestra. It was astounding. It was beautiful. It was blatantly Christian. We sang along with at least 8 or 9 carols, and there were choir and orchestra numbers in between. There was also a marvelous soloist who performed 3 of the crowd-pleasers: "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year," "White Christmas," and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
Dave had made reservations at a cute little Italian restaurant in Chelsey for the evening. We had an incredible dinner. There. They brought out the appetizers, and we thought it was the dinner. In fact, after finishing them, we could have gone home thoroughly satisfied. But then they brought out pasta dishes, and I honestly don't know which was better, Lasagne or ravioli. At that point, I was comfortably full and could have gone home really satiated. Next came beef and potatoes for me, sea bass and salmon for SK, a potato dish for Deb, and beef wrapped around a boiled egg for Dave.
They wanted to bring bread at this point, but I politely refused, and then they thought we should have dessert. When I refuse dessert, you KNOW I am full.
We hugged and wished each other Merry Christmas, then it was the three of us driving home, SK, me and the GPS. A blissfully easy ride home. I think SK is beginning to feel pretty comfortable behind the wheel these days. Its a good thing. The day was a great day from morning alarm going off to falling into bed tonight, in about 5 minutes.
Look at that sweet sister missionary behind us. She loved it!!!!
During "Silent Night" people pulled out their phones, turned on the flashlight, and waved them about in time with the music.
This was the appetizer! At this point today, Deb wasn't feeling well....she was trying to be brave, but she finally had to leave.

One of the Mama Mias came by each table to ask someone to dance with her. Dave was a good sport!
