Are We Having a Good Time Yet?

It is 33 degrees right now, on its way down to 32 by midnight.  We were out doing some shopping today, and it is the first time I felt like my coat really wasn't quite enough.  It wasn't the cold but the very brisk and chilly wind that did it.  I still love it here.

The weather will be in the 30's at night and 40's in the daytime all week and beyond.  Rain is forecast for every day but Friday!  I still love it.  I hope it doesn't interfere with all we have planned for the week.

Today was a red-letter day of sorts.  I feel like perhaps I have hit my stride.  I was relaxed most of the day, even though I was working on the meal for this evening.  SK and I went shopping, I baked, a friend came by to visit and we sat together and talked for nearly an hour.  It was lovely to have time like that with someone a little closer to my age and place in life.  She has adult children, although she is probably 10 to 15 years my junior.  Besides that, she is just a kind and caring person who is a pleasure to spend time with.

I put about 6 pounds of pork in the crockpot with some seasonings etc so that we could have pulled pork for dinner.  Another great find in this apartment was a very very large bag of frozen french fries in the freezer.  They had never been opened, so they were in great shape!

I shook them up in a plastic bag with oil and powdered Ranch Dressing mix.  I had to bake two pans at a time at 450 degrees, and they came out crispy and quite tasty.  I noticed several people put the fries on their plates and then topped them with the pork and then either BBQ sauce or Blue Cheese dressing.  I tried it and thought "This is an idea whose time has come!"  Green salad, apples and a pizzooki completed the meal.

We watched the First Presidency Christmas Devotional after dinner, and then everyone left...hard time of the year as far as getting final assignments in etc, plus they are starting to leave for their homes.  We have two more Institute evenings, and I think we will have just a handful Wednesday evening, and on the following Wednesday, I don't know if we will have anyone here.  We'll see.

One of the young women here tonight will be baptized Saturday.  That is just so exciting.  She confided that she is a bit nervous and so happy.  I am so happy for her.

Another young woman who has been coming to church and coming here for all of the occasions we have had handed me a wrapped gift with a cute note.

She gave us a rudimentary projector for a cell phone.  I am excited to try it.  People are so clever!

This young woman will soon be returning to her home far away, but can't take her Book of Mormon with her.  If it were found in her possession, she could be imprisoned.  She is a lovely young lady and so kind.  I hope all goes well with her.

It has been a NICE day.  I think I'm getting the hang of this, and beginning to see that it doesn't have to be a big production.  Plus, when the YSAs come in, they always help.  This is really kind of fun.

Time to get into bed.  Have to be up early early to leave for the temple with our zone.
