Wig and Pen, and Other Places of Note

Today dawned dark and cloudy.  It is glorious!  We walked out into the city briefly, and stopped at a little cafe that boasted Oxford's best fish and chips.  We have been told that it is not possible to make bad fish and chips, and I believe that is true.  The fish was OK but I think it was fried in oil that was reaching its limit, since the fish breading was dark dark brown.  When we were nearly finished eating, we saw another order of fish come out and it was that beautiful golden brown we love.

I'm not sure we will give that place another chance, since there are so many available all over England!  But it is so very fun to try different places.  Mostly, you go into pubs for fish and chips.  We have been told that the "Eagle and Child" pub is an OK place for fish and chips, but it is proud of being the meeting place of Tolkein and C.S. Lewis for many years.  How can you resist eating in there at least once?
SK enjoying a mouthful of fish!  Those onion rings are not part of the fish and chips plate.  That was SK's doing!

The back entry into Nuffield College, a graduate college that specializes in Social Sciences.

We spent time on the phone today trying to get several things straightened out.  We have visas that will expire in a year, and we signed on for a year and a half.  Don't know if that will be worked out any time soon.  SK is working on medicare....since we won't be using it for awhile.  I've been trying to reach the management company for the sister missionaries, who said they would get right on the mice problem.  In the meantime, the sister missionaries are stressed about the living situation.  They have now trapped 4 mice.

We are preparing for a meeting with the YSA reps tomorrow to do some planning, and we will have to throw a wrench in the works right off the bat.  Elder Cook will be here in Oxford to speak at Pembroke College (one of the many that comprise Oxford) about the American Founding, the Constitution and Religious Freedom.  SK, the YSAs and I have been invited to hear the speech, and then to a small dinner afterward.  Is that fun or what????

Unfortunately, the YSAs have Institute that evening, and I am not sure how flexible they are about missing it, or delaying it....even for something as once-in-a-lifetime as this.

It is definitely something to look forward to!
