Second Easter

This day in Oxford was stunningly beautiful.  When SK and I stepped outside to go for our walk, there was not a cloud in the sky anywhere and the sky was a Lovely shade of sky blue that makes you feel like all is well in the world.  It was bitingly cold.  And there was a wind, but we loved taking that walk.

Scenes along the way:

I know you must be kind of ho-hum about this very view by now, but look at that sky!

No matter how many houses are stuck together and built exactly alike, the front door is the owner's main chance to make it his own.  While others in this row of housing used their front yard to park their cars, this owner made a lovely little paradise.

We delivered more kits.  I must say, each of them loved the colorful little kits....what's not to love?  Chocolate, chocolate Easter eggs, shredded wheat.  And they ARE quite good, these little bird's nests.

This is what the final product looked like from SK and me:
Nutella is really big around here as well as Denmark.  We made the little nests out of chocolate and shredded wheat, put a dollop of Nutella on top of that, and then 3 little chocolate eggs.

If you try this at home, remember to put the Nutella in the bottom of the nest before adding eggs.

For Family Home Evening, we melted the chocolate in 15-second microwave bursts, then poured it over the shredded wheat which had been crumbled.  We stirred that up together and formed them into little nests, in which we placed a dollop of Nutella and then 3 small chocolate Easter eggs with the candy coating.  They turned out to be unbelievably easy, tasty and cute.

The elders gave the message, with a short video about Easter which was very effective.

The kits were such a success.  I think we ought to utilize those kinds of things a little more often.  We are not fixing meals for anyone, and we do have some money set aside for YW expenses in the stake budget.  What a great way to use it.

One young man tuned in fifteen minutes late, and hadn't signed up, so SK drove over to his place, delivered a kit, and then got back within ten minutes, so he was able to join in.

Today is known as Second Easter.  What little is normally open, was closed today - a bank holiday.

Wickipedia has this to say about it....Easter Monday is celebrated in the Catholic church and also called the Monday of the Angel "because we recall the meeting of the angel with the women who arrived at Jesus’s tomb (see Mt 28:1-15). The angel said to them: “I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has risen (vv. 5-6). This expression “He has risen” goes beyond human capacity. Even the women who had gone to the tomb and had found it open and empty could not confirm “He has risen”, but they could only say that the tomb was empty. “He has risen” is a message… Only an angel could say that Jesus had risen, only an angel with the authority to be the bearer of a heavenly message, with the power given by God to say it, just as an angel – only an angel – had been able to say to Mary: “you will conceive a son, [….] and he will be called the Son of the Most High” (Lk 1:31-32). Because of this we call it Monday of the Angel because only an angel with the power of God could say that Jesus had risen".(Regina Caeli, 2021)[1]

I think that is a lovely sentiment....whether or not anyone thinks of it today.
