Saturday is a Special Day - It is the Day to Get Ready for Sunday

 At last!  SK and I took a walk today.  It was not a serious walk, but it was pleasant.  We did some shopping for the things we couldn't get last night and then I came home and assembled the kits for family home evening.  We will make little chocolate birds nests with pastel eggs in them.  It is so easy a five-year-old can do it, but we wanted something simple.  That way, we can laugh and talk while we are working on our great sculptures.

Besides our great and wonderful walk, we delivered a few items.  A couple of the Family Home Evening kits to a couple of people were on our list.  The kits consist of four large shredded wheat biscuits, 100 gr. milk chocolate, a small package of small chocolate egg, small packets of Nutella, cupcake paper cups.  You slowly melt the chocolate in the microwave, stir in the crushed shredded wheat, form it into a little nest inside the cupcake liners, put about a teaspoon of Nutella inside the nest, and then put three little pastel eggs in on top of that.

That's what the sisters brought us last week, and SK ate them both!  They are tasty.  When SK will eat chocolate, you know they are good.

We also delivered some little bee items that Erin found in her shopping travels.  We took the two tea towels and the little ornament.  They are adorable.  We delivered them to a lady who lost her daughter just over a year ago.  It has been so difficult for her.  Her daughter's nickname was Bea, and my friend called her her little Queen Bee.  The daughter collected bee merchandise of any kind.  Her mother has continued the practice, and it is fun to give her things from America....Americanized Bees - as it were.  Her reaction was so dear.  

I washed the sheets.  It takes two loads to wash two king-sized sheets.  That means it takes about 3 to 4 hours to get the bed clean!

We watched the first session of conference, which was so very edifying.  I am going to sign off now, but we will watch the second session, and then at 11 p.m. the MCO performance.  I am looking forward to both.  In these times when we have been in lockdown so long, conference, and wonderful concerts make such an impact on us!

Tomorrow we head in to London to spend the day and two sessions of conference with Dave and Deb.  It has been such a beautiful blessing to have so much time with them.

Despite Covid restrictions, it sounds like a near perfect day!

And I’m finding “bee” items everywhere now! Most of them are too big to send but it is funny how now they’re everywhere! It does help that it’s spring.

In the 1st Ward today, an 11-year-old boy gave a talk that was one of he best sacrament meeting talks I have ever heard.  He got up to speak and his head just barely cleared the podium.  He is small and has a shock of dark hair topping a cute slightly freckled face. It will be several years yet before his voice deepens.  He had his written talk, and he read most of it, but he was familiar enough with it that he looked up often and it seemed as if he was speaking from his heart. Testimonies

 Our Sabbath started out with watching the Fast and Testimony meeting of Oxford 1st Ward. There were many dear people that I wished I could hug. One was Joan Evans, all 4 feet 6 inches of her - if that.  She approached the podium walking slowly and using a cane. She had to practically stand on her toes to be level with the Mike. She has such a strong testimony of the Savior. Aaron, a member of the bishopric bore his testimony about giving his children blessings before they start school. He said as he laid his hands on their heads, he had a powerful impression that the Lord loves them and knows them far better than Aaron does, and so he.stood waiting to hear how the Lord wants them to be blessed. Each one had something special to bear testimony about. Each one was dear. I will miss this ward and it’s simplicity. Thanks for the Sabbath Day - and Doing "The Madsen"

 I am curious how church will be after COVID has slunk off the front pages of history.  It has dominated the news for so long, and there are still dire warnings about a resurgence. The Spanish Flu just seemed to disappear after two years, and perhaps COVID will too. I have read that it will probably always be with us, like the flu.   We have not been to church in person since last September. I went exactly once before lockdown went into effect.  It looks like there may be in-person church starting on May 3, and then going ever other week after that. That would be for sacrament meeting. We had Zoom Sunday School today.  There were about thirty people in attendance and there was a very thoughtful discussion that I found quite interesting.   I couldn't help but think that we have all gotten used to sitting on the couch in comfortable clothes (although SK and I wear Sunday attire).
