As Good As A Rest

The sun came out for a couple of hours today!  I love it here because the contrasts are sharp and crisp on the buildings, making the light seem ever so much brighter.  We went out for our walk at that point because how can you resist light?  (Well, I guess you can if you live in Arizona.)

We walked along one of our most currently traveled roads.  It is normally a busy street, with a lot of little shops and businesses along the route.  We stopped in a little bakery, which was out of bread!  This was early afternoon, and we thought it would be good to have bread for the sacrament on Sunday.  So not to seem rude, we bought two little bakery goodies, which were not wonderful.

Next, we stopped in a fresh produce shop.  The display out front makes you glad to be alive.  At least 10 different kinds and colors of lettuce were artifully arranged on racks, drinking in the sunlight while at the same time staying crisp in the 34 degree weather.  We bought one large navel orange (I might as well give up...there simply is no orange as good as the one you go out your back door to pick), some lettuce, bananas and grapes.

It was chilly today, and I have to smile when we leave to go anywhere.  It is like dressing up your toddler to go out and play in the snow.  We put on our shoes, then coats, masks, earmuffs and finally gloves.  It seems like such a to-do just to get out the door.  But we are both grateful to have the layers of warmth.

I have a blouse, sweater, warm neck scarf, scarf on top of my coat, gloves and earmuffs...and mask.

I love this lazy little stream!

SK has gloves and a scarf, but he chooses not to wear them.  He will NOT wear a hat.  He is posing and trying to look tired.  Well, he IS tired, but he is being silly for the camera.

It has been quiet, but it has also been a much needed respite from meetings.  I have done washing and mopping and dusting and organizing.  Sometimes that is as good as a rest.

It does feel good to get stuff done and finished—at least that part is better than a rest!
