Why Is It So Tiring To Do Nothing?

This was a very long day!  A beautiful one with brilliant sunlight playing down over wet surfaces.

We were on the road for several hours.  We met Dave and Deb at a missionary apartment about an hour and a half from here.  But SK was nervous that we would miss them, and we ended up waiting for them outside of the apartment for 2 hours!  I mostly slept and trolled the internet for recipes.

When Dave and Deb arrived, they unloaded their van into our car with Christmas presents for the elders and sisters in our zone.  Deb asks for all gifts from families to be sent to the mission office so they can be distributed at the same time, and because it helps her to see who among the young missionaries will not have anything to open.

She then wraps everything up, labels it and gets it out to each missionary.  So far this year she has purchased gifts for 22 young missionaries.  Either their families don't give gifts at Christmas or they cannot afford to.  Whatever the reason, Deb makes sure there is something to open for each one.

We went inside and delivered gifts to the two sisters there, and Dave and Deb interviewed each one.  There was a sweet feeling inside that little apartment with Christmas lights strung up on one wall, a tiny little Christmas tree with decorations hanging off the branches and a too-big-star sitting precariously on top.

We drove home in the dark....it seemed like it took forever.

I will bake some goodies to go on little Christmas platters and we will deliver the gifts to the missionaries within the next few days.

I fixed a simple meal and we spent an hour visiting with Ally...Derek's daughter.  She was in a terrible accident a months ago, and is doing great.  She is cute.  It was good to see her and to hear how her life is going.  The scar on her forehead is large, but not nearly as awful as I had thought it would be.  She is getting frequent therapy on it to help it heal.  The plastic surgeon will take a look at it next month and see what can be done.

She is still beautiful, and the large scar over her left eye doesn't mar her appearance at all.

We watched a cheesy Christmas movie, and now we are ready to call it a day.
