It's a Gift
Today is the beginning of the third month back in England. It's been quite a ride so far. And so far, we haven't heard that our visas have been extended. And so now we begin our lockdown. We are still technically in Tier 2 until tomorrow night at midnight, which means that there is simply no socializing unless out of doors, and I don't think anyone wants to get together in a group of six outside right now. The high today was 52, and it was windy and rainy.
But this morning we went for a 4-mile walk! It was wonderful. We walked to the pharmacy to pick up our prescriptions. It was 2 miles there and 2 miles back. Even SK was getting tender knees and legs! But the sun was up....there was a chill wind and all that we passed by was a joy to behold. We'll probably not walk so far tomorrow, but we will keep this walking up.
It occurred to me this morning that this month of November is a gift. We love this place, and enjoy nothing so much as walking around, exploring little byways and looking at all of the old buildings. We will be severely cut back on what we can do with the YSAs, but we can contact them personally via the internet, and try to help them with just that. Otherwise, we can explore Oxford. Well....explore Oxford to the extent that our bodies/legs/knees will allow us, and to the extent that the police don't begin wondering why we are out so much.
I told SK he needs to begin wearing his pickleball shoes and his sweats so that he actually looks like he is out for the exercise.
