Time to Prepare

Today was a serious preparation day.  We have a list of about 50 or 60 individuals whose records are in the Oxford 1st Ward and who haven't been to meetings for a long time.  Our goal is to contact each one and invite them to come back and enjoy the spiritual strength given by ward members in our Sunday meetings....to partake of the Sacrament and to in turn strengthen others in their testimony of the Savior.

We spent considerable time today going over the lists, sorting out the ones we will contact, deciding how best to make that contact, whether by phone, email or a visit in person.  We don't want to pester anyone, but we do want to invite.

There are several people who are 60 and older and we know nothing about them, but they are the ones who have no phone number or email listed.  There must be at least 20 to 25 visits that we will be making in the next month.  I am excited to do that.

There are about another 15 who are under 30, our YSA target group.  We will contact them by phone or email since that is their preferred way of communicating.

We spent most of the morning indoors working on that list, and cleaning our flat.  It was a pleasant morning.  I got the ironing done....7 white shirts and 2 pairs of men's slacks.  That is a good thing done.  While I ironed, we listened to Robert Farrell, a wonderful speaker who has spent a good portion of his life working with YSAs.  Looking at all of the possible podcasts, I wonder at how much time a day I could spend listening to wonderful talks, lessons and lectures about any subject under the sun.

In the afternoon, we took a walk.  If we don't have a reason to go, we make up one.  We try to get in a couple of miles.  We went in some shops, but we didn't buy anything...we mostly just looked and walked.  Derek and Heather and some of their children will be here for 3 days the second week of March and we want to show them around to the best places, so we are talking endlessly about where we will go.  It is a good debate that we are carrying on.

And now we are ready for Sunday.....the weeks and the month ahead.
