YSAs’

We watched both sessions of conference -and had dinner in between.  We had 11 YSAs, who are awesome.  It was potluck, so I just made a couple of. Comparatively easy things.  We ate here, but watched both sessions at another member’s home.  Twelve lovely - and very brainy individuals met.  They are very nice.

It will be fun to get to know them.

The Early Bird.....mmmmm

Have I mentioned that I am happy NOT to be a young missionary?  They get up at 6:29 every morning and have a regimen of exercise and study, and by the time we see them at 9, they are already well into their day.  When we see them at 9 to do flat inspections, we also are well into our day, since I have to get up at 6 in order to be ready to be out the door at 7:15.  I don't have a terribly difficult time getting up.....it's staying awake all day that is the kicker.  SK is doing great at driving these days and when we take off on these road trips, I invariably fall asleep for a portion of the travel.  Something about being comfortable, the motion of the car and being old.  But that sleep is sweet.  We inspected three flats today.  All of them were clean and tidy, and the only admonishing we did in any of them was encourage them to try to manage the clutter a little better.  Sometimes though, their youth, kindness, earnestness and goodness j...

Food and Friends - Necessities of Life

 I am excited about this.  I don't know if it will come to pass.  But this is the proposal that I will present to our two YSA Reps and our Bishop's and his wife. I have written down a possible ten different dinner menus.  Simple meals, but something that might appeal to a young adult.  We will plan on preparing meals Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.  There will be an online signup and up to four can sign up to come any of those days.  We will serve a meal and then have a 15 minute devotional. I think that sounds marvelous.  Since the 10 meals are things that I have fixed forever, it will not be difficult to do.  For instance spaghetti.....I plan on making two large pots of the sauce next week, and I will freeze most of it.  We will stock up on ice cream as a go-to dessert.  Nothing like Melissa's ice cream, but once in awhile I will make cookies, cake or pie to go with it. Faith and Miracles

 Whew!  Famine to Feast! Figuratively Speaking. Our two weeks of isolation were indeed isolating. We stayed in our little tower opening windows and gazing longingly out at Oxford, heartily looking forward to get out there and walk! Yesterday was absolutely marvelous, although my legs complained bitterly throughout the night last night.  5 miles was a little too much to do to them after such a lengthy period of activity.  However, I think daily walking will be the answer.  The weather here is absolutely wonderful.  Down in the 50s and even 40s at night and then up to 70 or so.  We'll walk in the morning, and we will probably try to average 3 to 4 miles.  I have to say, this is such a lovely place to walk...in any direction. We got into bed late last night, and then I ended up walking back and forth in the living room to ease the dull ache in my legs.  We got up early to be off to the missionary zone conference about an hour and a half away....
