Life is Good

Well, first for the good news!  We now have the internet!  We will wait to see how much it cost to have used all of the data on our phones this month.  But it was worth it to be able to be plugged in.

I used the new iron.....it is lovely.  And SK will now once again look crisp and well-cared for.  He usually has a suit coat or a jacket over his shirt, but every now and again these past weeks, he has taken his jacket off, and it is obvious that the shirt never saw an iron.

I made some things for our YSA Break-the-fast lunch tomorrow.  I also made a batch of SK's favorite cookies.  He was thrilled.  And the cookies turned out alright.  I don't know if it is the different ingredients here or the oven, but they weren't quite as solid and puffy as they have been in the past.  I'll try again sometime in the future.

Senior missionary apartments are an amazing cache of things.  Take a look at this:  It must be the first mixer ever made.  It is quite the antique, and there was a note inside that said, "Broken....but could be mended or thrown away."  I washed it up and used it to make the cookies.  Maybe it beat them to death.  But it didn't save me any time over the little hand-held mixer.  Perhaps it's good for bread or cinnamon rolls?

The sister missionaries found two more mice today, bringing the total up to 7.  I tried to call their management company, but they aren't answering on the weekend and didn't seem to care that there was no way to contact anyone.  One of the missionaries' mother told her that someday she will laugh about this, and that there would come a day when she wished for all the world that mice were her only problem.  That is a wise mom.

But for now, the mice are causing them serious sleepless nights, and I hope we can get rid of those little pests.

In the first week we were here, I blew up my hair dryer.  It was quite spectacular.  Sparks flew, and then it just up and died.  But the good news is that we have Amazon.co.uk.  They are a beautiful thing.  I have a hair dryer, I have an iron, I have a countertop mixer if I choose to use it, we have the internet, and we have a printer that works.

Life is beautiful.
